His spectacular oversized ring GEO.GALACTICA, made in Platinum and 180 natural fancy grey diamonds was chosen by a distinguished panel of judges which also included Albert Jamieson, Lonmin’s Executive Vice President, internationally renowned designer Stephen Webster, and Ruth Donaldson from The Platinum Guild International. Nicole Cooper from Blue Inc, organisers of the Design Innovation Award and publisher of the Platinum Collection chaired the competition.

The ring which measures over 1.5 inches at its top was inspired by space, galaxies and stars… Tom’s infinite source of highly engineered galactic designs.

GEO.GALACTICA will be first revealed at a spectacular party and awards ceremony at SANAA’s (architects Kazuyo Sejima & Ryue Nishizawa) Serpentine Gallery Pavilion on 6th September.

The piece will be first shown to the public following the awards ceremony at London’s fashion-led precious jewellery store EC one at Clerkenwell.

Following his two DIA Awards in 2007 and 2009, Tom Rucker continues to collect awards for his laser welding technique GEO.2 at the UK’s most prestigious platinum based design competition.

Any sharp-eyed viewers viewing the Oscars earlier this week will have no doubt noticed the dazzling superlong earrings adorning American television star Nancy O’Dell as she walked down the red carpet.

The American TV personality is the television host of The Insider and a current contestant on Dancing with the Stars. She chose Tom´s latest work GEO.STARLIGHT, to wear down the Red Carpet and at the Awards Ceremony.

Tom Rucker is rightly proud of his work being represented at the Oscars: ‘Nancy would have had the choice to pick from million Dollar pieces by world-class designers but she decided to wear my work. I am very proud’.

After success loaning pieces for the 2007 Emmy Awards, Tom was invited by Michael O’Connor, Hollywood’s Platinum jewellery expert, and Vice President of the Platinum Guild USA, to loan his work to this year’s Oscar celebration in Los Angeles.

The piece had been specially designed and manufactured for this top event.
